Q: What is the Car Seat Trade-Up?
A: The Car Seat Trade-Up is our national in store event providing you the opportunity to trade-up a car seat or travel system in exchange for savings on a new car seat that fits your little one just right.
With a focus on car seat safety, our intent is to encourage customers to learn when they should transition their growing child to the next type of car seat. It also serves to call attention to the potential safety hazards posed by used car seats or travel systems still in circulation that may have been recalled or damaged, or older models that are now non-compliant with today’s more stringent safety standards.
Q: Does the item I bring back have to be a product I purchased from one of your stores?
A: No. You can trade up any qualifying car seat or travel system at any of our Toys''R''Us or Babies''R''Us stores nationwide, regardless of whether you purchased the item from one of our stores.
Q: Can I bring back multiple items and receive additional savings?
A: Yes, you can bring back multiple items to our stores during the program and you will receive one 25% discount for each item traded up. However, you may only use one savings coupon per each new item purchased. The new item must be in the participating product categories and from the participating manufacturers.*
Q: Is there a way to receive additional savings?
A: Yes, you can use your ''R''Us Credit Card to save 30% on a new car seat or travel system when you trade-up a used one (subject to credit approval). Note: Car Seat Trade-Up discount cannot be combined with any other ''R''Us offer or coupon.
Q: What if I don’t have an item to trade-up?
A: If you don’t have an item to trade-up, you can take advantage of a 15% off coupon you’ll find in our September catalog or at Babiesrus.com/CarSeatTradeUp which can be applied to a qualifying in store purchase of a new item from 9/1 - 9/31/15 (exclusions apply).
Q: Why is it important to dispose of old or secondhand car seats if they still look fine?
A: According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these car seats may look fine, but if labels or parts are missing or the ''life span'' has expired, its safety could be compromised. NHTSA also recommends replacing car seats after a moderate or severe vehicle accident. Find more safety tips from NHTSA on our Safety Experts Say blog.
Q: What happens to items that are traded up?
A: Items brought to our stores will be disposed of properly so they can’t be put back into circulation. We consulted with product safety organizations and they agreed that disposal of these items is necessary.
